The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Columbia College invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month remote faculty position in Psychology (non-tenure track, open area). This position will primarily support the Bachelor’s degree in Psychology online and at nationwide Columbia College venues, where courses are taught synchronously and asynchronously in an eight-week format. Support may include but is not limited to development and redevelopment of synchronous and asynchronous courses, approval of credentials of adjunct instructors, and implementing assessment tools into the LMS. Teaching, service, and professional development are required for promotion purposes. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and demonstrated potential to contribute positively to a college community are expected. Competitive salary commensurate with credentials and experience..
This position will include a twelve-month teaching assignment equivalent to a 4/4/2 undergraduate Psychology teaching load (taught in six eight-week sessions synchronously or asynchronously). Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to growth in the area of teaching over time. Faculty are expected to remain current in the content and pedagogy of their disciplines and areas of professional responsibilities (membership in professional organizations). Funding for conference attendance and other professional development activities is provided on an annual basis.
This position will also include service to the department and the college. It may include, but is not limited to: course re/development, program development, supervision of student internships, supervision of student research, assessment, adjunct support, evaluation, committee service, special projects, and training.
Teaching and service requirements will be negotiated with candidates based on the needs of the unit.
A Ph.D. in the field of Psychology (open area) is required. College teaching experience in a non-traditional format (asynchronous and/or synchronous) is highly desired. The ideal candidate will possess experience with online course development and implementing assessment at the program level.
