    McKendree University welcomes applications for Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology with a specialty in clinical or counseling psychology (license-eligible preferred). The position’s primary responsibilities will be in the undergraduate department of psychology, with additional teaching opportunities in the Master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

    We are looking for the following qualities:     

    1. Commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship.
    2. Investment in ongoing scholarly research, which includes collaboration with students.
    3. Dedication to university service, which includes academic advising and the recruitment and retention students.

    The teaching load for the position is four courses each semester. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will include three courses in the candidate’s specialty area such as Clinical and Counseling Psychology, Theories of Personality, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Ethics in Research and Therapy. Additional teaching responsibilities will include one graduate course such as Social and Cultural Foundations, Research and Evaluation, Human Growth and Development, among other courses contingent upon licensure status. Successful candidates will have an active program of research that offers learning opportunities for undergraduates.   

    Other responsibilities of the position will include academic advising; serving on university committees; contributing to departmental work such as assessment; and supervising internships, research, and student organizations. Opportunities also exist for contributions to our first-year experience (UNI 101), online programs, and the Honors Program.  

    Candidates must possess teaching experience and have a Ph.D. in psychology or must complete their doctorate before Fall 2024. Preference will be given to candidates who are licensed or license-eligible in IL.
