    The Department of Behavioral Science at Utah Valley University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in psychology. The successful candidate will be able to teach at least two of the following courses (Cognitive Psychology, Research Methods for Psychology, Principles of Learning, or Sensation & Perception). Candidates should demonstrate a capacity to do research and continue research at UVU in ways that meaningfully include undergraduates.
     
    The preferred candidate will also be able to teach in multiple modalities (face-to-face, online, livestream) and develop courses in topics such as (but not limited to) human factors, psycholinguistics, learning & memory, consciousness, problem solving, or attention. An ideal candidate should be committed to student success and learning, engage in professional development around pedagogy to develop their teaching, and be able to teach multiple class sizes effectively at an open enrollment institution.
     
    Given recent department and university initiatives, we are especially interested in candidates who integrate concepts or methods related to equity, inclusion, and diversity in their teaching. We seek candidates who demonstrate the ability to work respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds, including those who are first generation, economically disadvantaged, and with varied educational, racial, ethnic, gender, and sexuality identities, both in teaching and mentorship roles.
     
    Requirements
    Ph.D. in psychology or related field by position start date from an accredited institution. Position is located in Utah and requires candidates to establish residency in Utah upon hire. We seek colleagues with a history of demonstrating respect for students and colleagues both inside and outside the classroom.

    UVU is a rapidly growing regional university of more than 40,000 students and is located in Orem, Utah—about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. UVU is also near Utah’s emerging cluster of tech companies and start-ups, the Silicon Slopes, which include notable companies such as Adobe, Cisco, Facebook, and more. Central Utah boasts fine restaurants and cultural events and access to world-class ski resorts, hiking, fishing, biking and other outdoor activities. In addition, UVU is less than an hour from the Sundance Film Festival. Nearby world-renowned National Parks and recreation areas include Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Bryce Canyon, the Wasatch Mountain range, the Uinta mountains and wilderness area--all within 1 to 4 hour drives. Grand Canyon National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Denver, and Las Vegas are all within a day's drive. Nearby ski resorts include Alta, Brighton, Deer Valley, Park City, Snowbird, Solitude, and Sundance.
