Position Description:

The Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University is seeking candidates to fill a one-year contractually limited, teaching-focused faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.  The start date for the appointment is January 1, 2024.

Duties include teaching a range of courses, such as Abnormal Psychology/Psychopathology, Personality, Positive Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, and Forensic Psychology, and administrative service. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Psychology at the time of appointment and must provide evidence of teaching excellence in large (200+ students) undergraduate courses. They should have knowledge of the subject areas listed above and must be capable of training and supervising undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants. Candidates must also have a demonstrated commitment to upholding the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as they pertain to teaching and service. Applicants should clearly identify any previous teaching experience, especially in the areas listed above.

·         a teaching dossier including: a statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of teaching effectiveness, list of courses taught (including class sizes), and student evaluations of teaching.

·         the names and full contact information of at least three referees.  Letters of reference are not required and will not be reviewed at the application stage; the Department will request letters of recommendation from referees at later stages of the search process.
