    The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applications for one full-time, 9-month, Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 2023 on the Gulf Park campus. This exciting position is available to Doctoral level graduates with exceptional teaching abilities and a desire to support the undergraduate program at Southern Miss. This position will allow talented instructors an opportunity to engage with undergraduate psychology majors, many of whom are from diverse backgrounds and/or first-generation students. Opportunities for undergraduate teaching include courses covering topics such as research methods, introductory psychology, senior seminar, statistics and courses in applied areas, depending on the expertise of the individual hired. We are especially interested in colleagues who support the mission of the University and support undergraduate student success. Opportunities for engagement in student success initiatives are available and highly encouraged. 

    The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors, 100 of which are housed at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, MS. The Gulf Park campus includes three full time, tenure track faculty members and an additional 26 faculty are housed on the Hattiesburg campus, approximately 70 miles to the North. In addition to a large undergraduate major, the Hattiesburg campus is home to 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School), a doctoral program in Brain and Behavior (general/ experimental psychology), and an MPCAC-accredited Counseling Psychology terminal master’s program.
