    The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applications for two full-time, 9-month, Assistant Teaching Professor positions beginning August 2023. This exciting position is available to Doctoral level graduates with exceptional teaching abilities and a desire to support the undergraduate and graduate programs at Southern Miss. This position will allow talented instructors an opportunity to engage with undergraduate psychology majors, many of whom are from diverse backgrounds and/or first-generation students, as well as graduate students in applied areas. Opportunities for undergraduate teaching include courses covering topics such as research methods, introductory psychology, and courses in applied areas, depending on the expertise of the individual hired. We are especially interested in colleagues who support the mission of the University and support undergraduate student success. Opportunities for engagement in student success initiatives are available and highly encouraged.  At the graduate level, licensed or license-eligible teaching track faculty can be involved in practicum supervision in our in-house training clinic, and teaching graduate-level, applied courses. Opportunities to obtain post-doctoral supervision towards licensure (which includes mentorship, professional development) is available.

    The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School), a doctoral program in Brain and Behavior (general/ experimental psychology), and an MPCAC-accredited Counseling Psychology terminal master’s program. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.     Primary Duties and Responsibilities  
    1. Teaching undergraduate general and applied courses in applicant’s areas of expertise.

    2. Teaching graduate courses in applicant’s areas of expertise. Graduate level courses can include practicum supervision in our in-house training clinic, graduate level coursework across the areas represented in our School (e.g., psychological assessment courses; other opportunities in candidates' area of expertise may be available).

    3. Advising and mentoring of undergraduate students.

    4. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications 
    Minimum qualifications include a a doctoral degree in Psychology by August 2023.
     
    Preferred Qualifications  
    Potential for teaching excellence in undergraduate teaching.
    Applied applicants who are license eligible in the State of Mississippi
