    Description

    The Psychological Science Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Behavioral Neuroscience/Biological Psychology to begin August 1, 2023. 

    Responsibilities include

    • We seek to hire a talented teacher-scholar who can teach foundational and research courses within a specific area of Behavioral Neuroscience/Biological Psychology (e.g., psychopharmacology, addiction, motivation, brain plasticity, sleep, emotion, etc.), an advanced undergraduate seminar in an area of specialty, and at least one additional course that serves the program.
      • Opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary programs (e.g., Africana Studies, Environmental Studies, Critical Sexuality & Queer Studies) are available.

    Background

    Founded as Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith Colleges today are a highly selective, gender diverse residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum but separate dean’s offices, student governments, athletic programs and traditions. The Colleges are located in a small diverse city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. With an enrollment of approximately 1,700, the Colleges provide a rigorous curriculum from which students choose two areas of concentration from a wide array of majors and minors, and offer three Master’s programs. Creative and extensive programs of international study and public service are also at the core of the Colleges’ mission.

    Qualifications

    All areas of specialization related to Behavioral Neuroscience/Biopsychology will be considered.

    • Successful candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in psychology or be ABD.
      • The successful candidate will be committed to teaching and developing an active research program with undergraduates at a small, residential institution.
