The Department of Psychological Science at the University of Mary Washington invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2020. We seek applicants who have a demonstrated ability and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates and including them in productive research on topics related to clinical/counseling psychology. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program by August 15, 2020.
Candidates should be able to teach courses in our curriculum within the area of clinical psychology. Although the position is open to applicants with any area of specialty within clinical/counseling psychology, preference will be given to candidates who have (a) a focus on the biological bases of behavior and can teach related courses (e.g. Biological Psychology) or (b) a focus on multicultural and/or cross-cultural psychology and a willingness to develop courses in this area for inclusion in our curriculum. Candidates should also be prepared to teach service courses for the department (e.g., General Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods).
Highly qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate dedication to effective teaching and high-impact learning in an inclusive environment that embraces diverse talents and backgrounds. The successful candidate can look forward to joining a faculty committed to engaging undergraduates in research both inside and outside of the classroom. The department has an active chapter of Psi Chi recognized at the national level and a robust program for undergraduates to develop professionally through participation in research teams and an annual research symposium.
