    Description

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor to support our rapidly growing undergraduate program in Neuroscience. This is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position with an expected start date of August 1, 2024. Teaching Assistant Professor appointments have renewable terms of up to three years, with no limit on the number of terms. Teaching Assistant Professors are eligible for promotion, e.g., to Teaching Associate Professor and Teaching Professor; however, promotion to senior ranks is not a requirement for institutional commitment and career stability. The rapidly growing undergraduate Neuroscience Program is an interdisciplinary program shared between the Departments of Psychology and Biology.

The successful applicant will be appointed to either the Department of Psychology or the Department of Biology, depending on the fit with the candidate’s skills and areas of expertise. The Department of Psychology has 26 full-time faculty, 70 graduate students, and 683 undergraduate psychology majors. Ph.D. training is offered in Behavior Analysis (ABAI accredited), Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical and Clinical Child Psychology (APA accredited), and Life-Span Developmental Psychology. The Department of Biology has 31 full-time faculty, 54 graduate students, and 468 undergraduate majors. Graduate training is offered in Behavioral Neuroscience, Cell and Molecular Biology, Ecology and Evolution, and Genetics and Genomics.
