    The Department of Psychology at Utah State University in Logan, UT is seeking candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track, Temporary Assistant Professor position to support our teaching mission. The focus of this position will be on teaching in our undergraduate program. This is a 1 FTE, 9-month academic year position situated on our main campus in Logan, Utah. Please note that this position is not eligible for remote work. H-1B sponsorship for this position is available.

    This is a temporary position with guaranteed funding for the first year, with the possibility of up to two additional years pending funding. The review of applications will begin on March 25, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2024.

    Responsibilities

    Teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes within areas of expertise and according to department needs. The teaching load for this position is four courses per semester.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Completed requirements for the doctoral degree before appointment.
    • Evidence and potential of excellence in teaching.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Teaching expertise in one or more of the following content areas is required: Psychology of Gender, Multicultural Psychology, Social Psychology, and Undergraduate Statistics.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Record of pursuing training or professional development in the area of teaching and learning prior to application, such as attendance at teaching conferences, workshops, or classes on teaching.
    • Experience in implementing high-impact and/or evidence-informed teaching strategies.

    Department Highlights

    The Department of Psychology is located within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. The department consists of 40 faculty representing diverse areas of psychology. The department is one of the most research productive units in the college. Faculty enjoy collaborative relationships with those in the department as well as other departments in the college (e.g., Special Education and Rehabilitation) and across campus (e.g., Biology). Our online bachelor’s degree program is currently ranked 18th in the nation. The undergraduate program boasts award-winning faculty with leadership positions in national and international organizations and a focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning. The undergraduate program has also received national recognition for undergraduate research, providing opportunities for students to conduct both group and individual projects.
