The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and the Neuroscience Program at Colgate University invites applications for one or two positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall semester of 2024, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year dependent on the evaluation of teaching effectiveness and institutional need. Both positions are open to a variety of areas, though emphasis on cognitive, social, personality, developmental, clinical psychology, or neuroscience are encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to teach staff-taught courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology or Neuroscience, or Biological Psychology, Research Methods, or Quantitative Methods), upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty area, and supervision of senior thesis work (which normally counts as one course). Successful candidates may also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

Completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. The teaching load for this position is equivalent to five courses per year. Please note that Colgate will not sponsor any visa or work authorization for this position.

Candidates should prepare a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statements of teaching and research interests. Colgate strives to be a community supportive of diverse perspectives and identities. Candidates should describe in their cover letter how their teaching and scholarship might support the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching and research interests, and names of three people who can provide letters of recommendation must be submitted through http://apply.interfolio.com/142290.

Review of applications will begin March 25, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
