    Job Description:

Central College's Psychology Program is seeking applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2024 in the areas of counseling or clinical psychology. A successful candidate will be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate education and collaborative undergraduate research within a liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching some combination of courses in their area(s) of expertise (e.g., Abnormal Psychology, Principles of Counseling, etc.) and contribute to teaching responsibilities shared by the entire department, specifically teaching one or more courses within our program's research sequence (General Psychology, Introductory and Advanced Research Methods, and Statistics). Central College's Psychology Program is comprised of three collegial and dynamic tenure-line faculty who are committed to liberal arts education and undergraduate research. The psychology major consists of topical elective classes within psychology's various sub-disciplines (e.g., social, developmental, biological, mental health) and a core sequence of classes focused on foundational research skills (e.g., general psychology, research methods, statistics, research practicum). Within this research sequence, each psychology major completes a group research project and an individual capstone research project, both of which are presented by students annually at regional and national psychology conferences. As such, our psychology graduates are well prepared for graduate study and B.A.-level employment in a variety of areas. Approximately 45 percent of Central College's psychology majors enroll in graduate school immediately after graduation, while another 15 percent pursue advanced degrees after a period of work experience.

    Requirements:
A Ph.D. in psychology or a highly related field is required (ABD considered.)
