The Psychology Department at Grand Valley State University invites applicants for a one-year Visiting Professor position for the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful candidate will teach 4 undergraduate classes per semester and will have teaching responsibility for Introductory Psychology and Research Methods. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or be near completion of a Ph.D. in psychology or related field. This is a full-time, academic-year, visiting position, with a one-year initial appointment. There is a possibility, but not a guarantee, that the position will continue beyond one year. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, and from candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations. The successful candidate should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
GVSU has a large and diverse group of 40 full-time psychology faculty members who engage in teaching and research in all areas of psychological science. The Visiting Professor will have access to shared laboratory facilities and equipment and an undergraduate subject pool, should they want to continue their research or collaborate with other faculty or students.
Applicants should send, via email, a letter-of-application describing interests and qualifications, along with a Curriculum Vitae, to Mary Bower Russa, at email@example.com. As part of the letter-of-application, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching. Candidates should also include a statement on commitment to inclusive excellence that includes a summary of ongoing and anticipated activities to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity in their teaching. Applicants should also have two letters of reference sent to the same email address. Applications will be reviewed as received beginning May 1, and the position will remain open until filled.
