The Department of Psychology at Murray State University seeks to fill one tenure-track assistant professor position in clinical or counseling psychology, beginning August 2020. Join a group of colleagues who are actively engaged in research and committed to the education of undergraduate and master’s degree students both inside and outside the classroom with integration of research into teaching a standard practice. Undergraduate and graduate students are regularly involved in the process of research with individually supervised research projects in collaboration with faculty.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCandidates should have the ability to serve as a clinical practicum instructor, supervising adult and child therapy and assessment cases in a community-serving, sliding-fee-scale clinic based in the department. The successful candidate must also be able to teach courses like abnormal psychology, general psychology, and undergraduate and master’s level courses in their area of specialization.
Experience and EducationSuccessful candidates will provide evidence of excellence in teaching, the ability to establish an active research program, and the interest and ability to involve undergraduate and master’s level graduate students in their research as well as to direct undergraduate research projects and graduate student theses. Candidates must also have a Ph.D. in either Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-approved program and licensure in Kentucky (or eligibility for licensure within one year). Preference will be given to candidates with a cognitive-behavioral orientation. The PhD must be completed by time of appointment (ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered).
