The Psychology Department in the Elon College of Arts and Sciences seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with a focus on Cognitive Psychology. The position will begin mid-August 2025.
Applicants should have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology (open area) by August 2025. Candidates with experience in basic-scientific research and/or interests in diversity, equity, and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must show evidence of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level. The ability to maintain a sustained research agenda that actively incorporates undergraduate mentees into one’s program of research is essential. Elon employs a Teacher-Scholar-Mentor model of faculty engagement, with faculty typically teaching six courses per year. Elon is committed to supporting faculty as teacher-scholar-mentors through the provision of excellent teaching spaces, research facilities and support, and professional development resources.
Teaching will include foundational courses within the major (e.g., Cognitive Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, etc.), with the possibility to develop advanced special topics courses relating to one’s area of expertise and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter.
