    The Department of Psychology at the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA Sarasota-Manatee campus invites applications for one nine-month, renewable, non-tenure track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF INSTRUCTION to begin on August 7, 2024. Salary is $55,000 - 60,000. Applicants MUST have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Psychology or a related discipline and be qualified to perform assigned duties by the time of the appointment. A review of applications will begin on October 6, 2023. Applications received after October 6, 2023, may be reviewed and advanced, in cases of compelling merit, up to the conclusion of the search process.

    Applicants should show evidence of outstanding teaching, along with a strong record of service to their university, profession, and/or community. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a 4/3 load of undergraduate instruction that may include in-person or online sections of Research Methods, Psychological Statistics, and Introduction to Psychology. The applicant may also be required to teach upper-level Psychology content courses. The area of specialty is open but preference will be given to applicants with a background in Developmental Psychology, Counseling, or Applied Clinical Psychology. In addition, the successful applicant will be required to engage in service activities such as Faculty Advisor for the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Psychology Club and Psi Chi, USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Open House representative, and/or other departmental committees as needed. Finally, the ability to mentor students in directed or independent research within the applicant's area of interest will be considered a strength.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited institution
    • Experience teaching Research Methods, Psychological Statistics, or Introduction to Psychology as Instructor of record
    • Experience developing and teaching online courses
    • Record of service to university, profession, and/or community.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate psychology courses including Developmental Psychology, Counseling, or Applied Clinical Psychology
    • Experience working with diverse student populations
    • Experience mentoring student organizations (e.g., Psychology clubs, Psi Chi)
    • Record of publishing in academic journals
    • Experience mentoring student research

    This position is eligible for benefits. The applicant may be offered one additional summer course based on the needs of the institution and at the discretion of both the institution and applicant.
