The University at Buffalo plans to hire TWO Assistant Teaching Professors. Review begins November 21 (full review will likely begin in early January 2023).

The Department of Psychology at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, is inviting applications for two Assistant Teaching Professors (official state title: Clinical Assistant Professor) to serve the department’s instructional needs.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Develop and teach PSY 199 (UB Seminar). Faculty teaching these small seminar courses for entering undergraduates are expected to serve as a resource to those who are new to navigating a university setting and to play a role in student success and retention.

    • Ensure courses conform to all University course requirements and content is updated to provide students with the best possible educational experience.

    • Course load will be 8 courses across the academic year (or equivalent).

Although this is an instructional position, teaching faculty may participate in the active research environment of the department through attendance in department colloquia, affiliation with one or more areas, and mentoring undergraduate research projects.

This is a non-tenure-track position with an academic year (10-month) obligation. Initial appointment will be for a three-year term with opportunity for renewal based on performance, College need, and available funding.

Working at UB comes with benefits that exceed salary alone. There are personal rewards including comprehensive health and retirement plan options. We also focus on creating and sustaining a healthy mix of work, personal and academic pursuit – all in an effort to support your work-life effectiveness.

UB is one of America’s leading public research universities and a flagship of the State University of New York system, recognized for our excellence and our impact.

UB is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and, in keeping with our commitment, welcomes all to apply including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in hand by time of appointment. Experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience mentoring undergraduate students and departmental service.

New hires will join a lively department of 33 faculty, 5 of whom are teaching-focused on the Clinical track.

Buffalo, NY, is known as the city of good neighbors, noted for its affordable cost of living, active theater and arts, historic architecture and parks, glorious summers, and one heck of a football team (Go Bills!).
