    Wilkes University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology with a focus in the areas of clinical/counseling psychology or applied psychology (e.g., I/O, cultural psychology) to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an array of undergraduate courses that will include courses in their specialty areas, as well as other courses needed by the department, such as Research Methods, Senior Capstone, and Introductory Psychology. The typical teaching load is 21 credits over two semesters (4-3 load)

    Excellence in teaching is of paramount importance. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and scholarly productivity. Candidates will also be expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduate students, advise undergraduate students, and perform university and professional service. Preference will be given to candidates who embrace the University’s culture of developing mentoring relationships. A Ph.D. in psychology at the time of appointment is required. ABD’s will be considered if degree completion will occur by August 2023. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

    Psychology is one of the largest majors at Wilkes University, and we have a very active Psychology Club and chapter of Psi Chi. We highly value undergraduate student-faculty research, and faculty regularly present with undergraduate student co-authors at regional and national conferences.
