     SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York.  The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.  An additional 1,600 students are served through the College’s workforce and non-credit programs.

    Job Description:

     SUNY Broome Community College has a full-time, 10-month, tenure track appointment opening as Assistant Professor of Psychology and Human Services available beginning in Spring 2023 in the Psychology and Human Services Department.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Teaching three (3) to (5) courses per semester at the introductory and advanced level.
    • Engaging in scholarly activity.
    • Participating in departmental and college-wide committees.

    The successful candidate will have previous experience teaching undergraduate psychology and/or human services courses and must be willing to serve as Coordinator of the Chemical Dependency Counseling degree and certificate programs.

    Comfort with technology and teaching in multiple modalities including face-to-face, online, and Hyflex is required.

    Two (2) to five (5) years of teaching experience and/or clinical experience in substance use disorder counseling and treatment, experience placing and monitoring interns and program coordination, and assessment are preferred.

    Familiarity with New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) standards is also preferred.

    Requirements:

    A Master’s degree in an appropriate field is required.  Additional graduate coursework in an appropriate field is desirable.

    Three (3) years of teaching experience, or an appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.

    Additional Information:

    The minimum salary for this position is $51,282.  Salary offer will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

    Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
