    The Department of Psychology and Sociology invite applications for Assistant Professor tenure-track position of Psychology in Counseling/Clinical psychology beginning Fall 2023. Practical experience and graduation from an APA accredited program are preferred and or be license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Texas. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, but ABDs completing this academic year will be considered. Candidates should be committed to both undergraduate and graduate teaching, should possess successful experience working with and supporting diverse populations, and possess the ability to implement and integrate instructional technology in learning management systems. Teaching assignments are negotiable and may include a variety of courses across the curriculum such as psychopharmacology, group therapy, family/couples’ therapy, abnormal psychology, life span/human development, and/or multicultural counseling.

    SALARY:  Nine-month, commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    -A doctorate or ABD in psychology (counseling/clinical), or closely related discipline, from an accredited institution.

    -Ability to teach undergraduate/graduate coursework in a variety of areas relating to psychology, including: therapy (individual, family, addiction), psychopathology, lifespan, etc.

    -Be eligible to be licensed as a psychologist in Texas.

    -Experience in teaching, advising and mentoring graduate students.

    -Willingness to instruct courses in various formats as department need dictates.

    -Willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment.

    DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY & SOCIOLOGY: 

    One of the largest departments in the College of Arts and Sciences, the department offers a BS in Criminology and BA’s in Psychology and Sociology. Master’s degrees are also offered among Psychology (general psychology and counseling psychology), Sociology and Criminology. The department also features minors in Anthropology, Southwest Borderland Studies and Human Development and Family Studies.
