    ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY: The Psychology Department at the University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a tenure-system Assistant Professor position beginning August 16, 2023. This is a full-time on-campus position tenure-track academic appointment. UIS tenure-system faculty are expected to be available and engaged in the campus community, with assigned professional responsibilities for teaching, scholarship, and service.

    Responsibilities:  

    Teaching responsibilities would include undergraduate courses such as Social Psychology, Research Methods, Principles of Psychology, Senior Seminar, and courses in the candidate’s specialty area (particularly in implicit bias, social justice, or power, oppression, and privilege)

    The candidates will be expected to teach some courses in an online format. Normal teaching load is three courses per semester. College teaching experience is required, and experience pursuing innovative and engaging teaching strategies is desirable. The applicants should demonstrate potential for scholarship and/or research in a specialty area. Opportunities to mentor undergraduate research are available. We seek candidates whose teaching, scholarship, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment of diversity, equity, and inclusion among a culturally diverse student and faculty body. 

     

    Qualifications: The successful candidates should have a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from an accredited university prior to the start date.
