    LIU Post’s Department of Psychology is seeking a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor to contribute to its programs, in teaching, research, and service to the department and university. The area of specialization is open, but priority will be given to candidates who have expertise in cognitive or developmental psychology.  Beginning in Fall 2020, this is a 9-month full-time faculty position (paid over 12 months) with rank commensurate with credentials and experience.


    Principal Responsibilities:

    ·         Teaching will be primarily in statistics and research methods courses at the undergraduate level, but some teaching will be within the specific area of expertise

    ·         Establish an externally funded research program involving students

    ·         Participate in recruitment, retention and admissions activities

    ·         Participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks,

    ·         Contribute to the planning and curriculum development of new program

    ·         Actively engages in scholarship to advance knowledge and develops and implements a scholarship plan/faculty development plans as required by accreditation standards and Long Island University.

    ·         Disseminates scholarly work consistent with University policies and accreditation expectations as well as securing funding to support such research

    ·         Engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience

    ·         Serve on programmatic and university committees

    ·         Advise students on academic, professional, and/or personal issues while providing referrals when appropriate.

    ·         Demonstrates professionalism and ethical behavior

    ·         Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director and Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.


    Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology and demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research.
