Assistant Professor of Psychology or Human Services
Lander University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology or Human Services (rank and title depend on credentials) to begin in August 2020. Candidates with a doctoral degree in clinical/ counseling psychology or human services are preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. College-level teaching experience, including teaching online, is preferred. Applicants should be able to teach human services courses such as its introduction course, drug and alcohol counseling or group dynamics, marriage and family therapy or crisis intervention and prevention, as well as psychology courses such as abnormal psychology or interviewing and counseling, or theories of psychotherapy. Preference will be given to candidates with a license or who are pursuing licensure in their field of specialization.
The Department of Psychological Science is a part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences along with the departments of Government, Criminology, and Sociology; History and Philosophy; and Military Science. The Department offers a major in psychology as well as minors in child and family studies and in human services. The University is currently seeking approval for a B.S. in Human Services.
The normal teaching load is 24 hours per year and the successful candidate will be expected to advise students, participate in departmental and university service, develop and maintain a research agenda, and supervise student research. This position would involve teaching at the main campus and at the University Center of Greenville. Summer teaching assignments are available.
