The Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland invites applications for two full-time lecturers to begin August 23, 2023. Payroll start date of July 30, 2023. These are 1.0 FTE, 9-month positions with a three-year contract and the possibility of renewal. Approximately 90% percent of the lecturer’s commitment will be teaching undergraduate courses, with the remaining effort dedicated to service activities.
The first position is broadly focused on teaching Social Psychology, including lecture and laboratory courses in this area, research methods, introductory psychology, as well as courses in the lecturer’s areas of specialization. A Ph.D. in Psychological Science is required, preferably in the field of social psychology, or a closely related field.
The second position will be dedicated to teaching primarily within the newly launched, interdisciplinary Social Data Science major. A Ph.D. in Psychological Science, Neuroscience, Data Science, Information Science, or a closely related field is required. Familiarity with social network analysis, survey methodology, or advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, or natural language processing, is desirable but not required. Ideal candidates for both positions will have a strong background in quantitative methodology and proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python.
