    Position Summary:

    Mount Mary University is searching for an enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant Psychology Department and contribute to the realization of our mission as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology. We are a community of faculty who value building and fostering relationships with our students and colleagues. We are committed to a compassionate and effective undergraduate education for our students.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate psychology courses with a focus on either Cognitive Psychology or Personality/Social psychology.

    A Cognitive Psychologist will have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses, including Cognitive Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Behavioral Science Statistics, Experimental Psychology, and a Psychology Capstone Seminar.

    A Social/Personality psychologist will engage students in classes such as Psychology of Personality, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Behavioral Science Statistics, and Experimental Psychology.

    The faculty member will also have an opportunity to mentor undergraduate students and foster growth through advising, engaging students in research, and supervising internships. We pride ourselves on the use of innovative teaching strategies with a diverse student body.

    As a faculty member, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the life of the University through:

    • program and strategic planning
    • curriculum development and revision
    • serving as a resource for faculty members and other program areas
    • actively participating in faculty assembly and All-University committees
    • providing service to the institution and the community
    • engaging in ongoing scholarship and professional activity (research, publications, presentations)
    • be an effective teacher across the range of course offerings including non-majors as well as introductory and upper-level courses
    • be able to teach in a variety of modalities (in-person, hybrid, online)
    • be prepared to mentor students as a Faculty Advisor
    • performing other duties as assigned

    Skills and Experience:

    • D. in Psychology or ABD; at least three years of experience teaching psychology at the undergraduate level, plus experience teaching diverse learners; strong commitment to quality teaching in the liberal arts and commitment to the mission of the University.
    • evidence of teaching effectiveness; demonstrated skill in the application of technology for teaching and learning
    • positive human relations, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as a member of professional and community groups
    • command of written and spoken English
