The Department of Psychological Sciences at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure-eligible position at the Assistant Professor level in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. We are interested in individuals with expertise in Diversity Science, but exceptional applicants from other clinical research areas will be considered. Located in historic Williamsburg, Virginia and close to metropolitan areas such as Richmond, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, William & Mary consistently ranks among the top ten public universities nationally. While the position is open to applicants with a range of research interests, the ability to complement and expand the current strengths of Psychological Sciences faculty (developmental, social, neuroscience, personality, cognitive) is essential.

The candidate is expected to maintain a productive research program that inspires exceptional undergraduate and pre-doctoral master’s students and that has the potential for external funding. The expectation for teaching is two courses per semester. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach clinically-relevant courses that contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D., from a APA- or PCSAS-accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology program at the time the appointment begins (August 10, 2023).

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those with a Ph.D., at time of application and who are licensed or license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia. William & Mary is especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and mentorship of students, to the diversity of the academic community. Experience teaching and mentoring student research is a plus.

Applicants must apply online at https://jobs.wm.edu. Submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, a statement describing previous professional experience or future plans (or both) that demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion, a statement of teaching interests, a statement of research interests. You will be prompted to submit online the names and email addresses of three references who will be contacted by the system with instructions for how to submit a letter of reference.

For full consideration, submit application materials by November 1, 2022. Applications received after the review date will be considered if needed.
