G. Stanley Hall Lecture Series & Harry Kirke Wolfe Lecture

At each APA Convention, the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, in collaboration with the Education Directorate of APA, sponsors the G. Stanley Hall Lecture Series and the Harry Kirke Wolfe Lecture.

The G. Stanley Hall Lecture Series and the Harry Kirke Wolf Lecture are the premiere lectures delivered by teachers of psychology, to teachers of psychology. In these talks, renown experts deliver cutting-edge talks designed specifically for other teachers of psychology.

G. Stanley Hall

The G. Stanley Hall Lecture Series began in 1980 and was designed to advance the teaching of introductory psychology. A history of the G. Stanley Hall lectures can be found here and a historical archive of past speakers can be seen here.

Harry Kirke Wolfe

The Harry Kirke Wolfe Lecture Series began in 1992, when the G. Stanley Hall Lecture Series was expanded to include a talk about the teaching of teaching, by a scholar of the teaching of psychology. This lecture is named for Harry Kirke Wolfe. Professor Wolfe was a Wilhelm Wudnt’s second student. After earning his degree, he took a position at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where he devoted his academic life to, as Ludy Benjamin noted, “teaching undergraduates so that, in a survey in the 1920s, his undergraduate laboratory ranked third in producing students who would later attain doctorates and exert influence in the field.” The lectures are the premiere lectures delivered by teachers of psychology, to teachers of psychology. In the Harry Kirke Wolfe lecture, a renowned expert delivers a talk on an important topic in the scholarship of teaching and learning. The lecture is designed to be a cutting-edge talk, designed specifically for other teachers of psychology.
